B&B ~ AH!
The title of this page, B&B ~ AH! stands for Bed & Breakfast ~ At Home!
Have you ever visited a B&B, so delighted at what you'd experienced, that you wondered how you could make that a reality at home, somehow?
Well, I've been greatly inspired by my visits to some beautiful B&B experiences, so much so, that I've decided to make a page here with a B&B menu and ideas for you to make it a reality in your own home!
1. The first thing you want to do is pick a day during the week to set aside the morning -- the FULL morning, until 12pm if possible.
You will need this time to prepare something wonderful, set the table respectively (B&B style), and savor the scrumptious vittles, and the time to gather with family, friends, a neighbor you might invite, to this delicious B&B ~ AH! morning :)
2. The second thing you will want to do is consider the food. What rich food do you love, something that is relatively easy to make, but it might look like you spent hours preparing it?
Here are some ideas:
Grains:
~Blueberry Pancakes
~French Toast Struedel
~Golden Sweet Cornbread
~Oatmeal & Fruit Muffins
~Choc Chip Banana Nut Bread
Entre's:
~Spinach and Swiss *cheese* omelette
~Vegetarian Eggs Benedict, with Avocado and Tomato & homemade hollandaise
~Crustless Quiche with Spinach, Zucchini and Corn
Sides:
~Home fries / hashbrowns with diced Yukon Gold Potatoes
~English muffins or crumpets with earth balance & fruit preserves
These may be pretty basic ideas, but you get the idea. You can take ordinary things and make them fancy by adding your favorite veggies and flavoring to them!
Some of the above I have recipes for; the others are pretty simple and you can adapt your own special way of making it for your B&B ~ AH! day :)
3. You will want to consider table setting. Pick your favorite china, or some eclectic pieces to mix & match. Use some of your special tea cups or favorite colorful mugs. Or use that adorable tea set you've put away for *special occasions* only! Time to bring out the special stuff and celebrate!
4. You will want to consider the atmosphere.
Bright & Sunny day? consider eating outside, under the patio umbrella, or on the porch. You may want to have a large vase of flowers, or a couple of smaller ones if you have a big table to spread them out on.
Consider a nice pitcher of lemonade and/or juice if it is warm.
If it's breezy, you may want to make sure you have something heavy to hold the napkins down.
Is it a cool autumn day? A little damp or lightly sprinkling? Even a heavy rain can be very cleansing, and enjoyable from the inside with a warm atmosphere that brightens the room. Consider candles for this, and soft lighting, and a seasonal basket of florals and gourds.
Other things to consider:
Candles: If your candles are scented, plan to keep them around the room and away from the table. You and your guest want to be smelling the food, not the candles, when you are engaging your meal.
Keep small white unscented tealights on the table instead, and make sure the scented ones are far enough away from the table so that the aroma is not overwhelming you and your guests.
Music: If you guests would appreciate a lively atmosphere, consider the setting and the type of music that would play nicely in the background, as to not overwhelm or overpower the conversation with its tune.
If your atmosphere is more soft, then consider nature sounds and landscape compositions instead, that have soft instrumental melodies playing, which will empower a soothing and comforting atmosphere.
I'm sure now that you've read what I've shared here, you are feeling inspired thoughts on your own and you can take the beginning of what I;ve shared here and run with it.
Wishing you a joyous B&B ~ AH! day!
EC Baking Blessings To You!
